Q: Does "Three Days of Darkness" really have three days? Or is it a metaphor to symbolize "Loss of Faith" after the Second Vatican Council?


A. 3/ Three Days of darkness are mentioned in private revelations, especially of Anna Maria Taigi (blessed). As you say, it is difficult to interpret, because in many similar cases, such expression can be a symbol of spiritual darkness. The person who received the revelation might have understood (not necessarily), for others it is much more difficult. One ought to distinguish clearly between the actual original private revelation, and its interpretation.


A. 3a/ first and very important point: The original private revelation is not ¡°de fide divina – of divine faith¡±, but simply ¡°of human faith¡±. That means that one is not bound to believe it with the same faith relying on Divine Authority as we are bound to believe the ¡°public revelation¡± (Old and New Testament, Scriptures and Tradition, taught by the Church). Human faith relies on the human witness, here: Anna Maria Taigi. We may very well consider her trustworthy, but that does not make it ¡°of divine faith¡±, simply ¡°of human faith.¡±


A.3b/ However, many people put their own personal interpretation on the original revelation, and that does not have much reliability. In fact there are many interpreters, and they offer differ. So it is very difficult to say which interpretation is right.
