The Pope and Changes in the Church

Christians who say ¡°it¡¯s always been done that way,¡± and stop there have hearts closed to the surprises of the Holy Spirit. They are idolaters and rebels will never arrive at the fullness of the truth. That was the message of Pope Francis at Mass on Monday morning at the chapel in the Casa Santa Marta. (Pope Francis)

Q  What about Pope Francis and those who ¡°close their hearts to the surprises of the Holy Spirit¡±?

A  ¡°The sin of idolatry it to put ¡°strange gods¡± at the same level of the one True God: the first Commandment says ¡°that shall not have strange gods before me¡±. Now what did Pope Francis do in his ¡°message¡±, if not put Buddha and two other false religion at the same level as our Lord Jesus Christ? If that is not set ¡°false gods before Christ¡±, what is it?

The Pope asks ¡°to discern what should not change, because it is fundamental, from what should change in order to be able to receive the newness of the Spirit.¡±

Now if there is something that is fundamental, and should not change, it is that Jesus Christ is true God and true man: He is truly the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity! And no one can put false God before him!

The exegesis of Pope Francis is NEW – and does not fit the Scriptures. You will look in vain in the words of Saul: Saul did NOT say ¡°it¡¯s always been done that way.¡± Neither did the Pharisees say so. On the contrary, St Paul COMMANDS to the Galatians that if anyone comes and teaches something NEW, different from what they were taught, he should be rejected! (Gal. 1:8-10).

In Catholic terms, ¡°old¡± refers to the ¡°old Adam¡±, or the man of sin, and all that is inclined towards sin, the love of earthly things, money, pleasures, honours, etc. ¡°New¡± refers to the New Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ. St Paul says beautifully: ¡°But you have not so learned Christ; If so be that you have heard him, and have been taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus: To put off, according to former conversation, the old man, who is corrupted according to the desire of error. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind: And put on the new man, who according to God is created in justice and holiness of truth. Wherefore putting away lying, speak; ye the truth every man with his neighbour; for we are members one of another¡±(Eph. 4:20-25).

This is very clear: newness does not consist in throwing away the examples of the Saints, the examples of holiness of our Lord Jesus Christ, and imitating the world: it has not been done before and SHOULD NOT be done! No Pope had kissed the Koran before John Paul II, and no Pope should ever do so (nor anybody else)! ¡°New¡± does not mean ¡°good¡±, unless it refers to ¡°putting on the New Man, who is created according to God in justice and holiness of truth¡±.
